Small Business
Research and Innovation
Invertix is active in the Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR)
and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs sponsored
by the Department of Defense, NASA, and 9 other civil agencies.
These programs are designed to stimulate technological innovation
and increase small business commercialization of federal R&D
as well as foster participation of socially disadvantaged firms
in technological innovation. Leveraging expertise in wireless
communications and protocols, digital signal processing, RF engineering,
antenna, and waveform design, Invertix possesses the qualities
that make the SBIR and STTR programs a success. For example, through
the SBIR program Invertix developed a fault-tolerant software
defined radio architecture for NASA and developed novel antenna
designs that promise to revolutionize wireless data networks.
If you would like more information on Invertix’s
support of the SBIR and STTR programs or to discuss SBIR/STTR
teaming opportunities, please contact our Program Director, Dr.
Dan Law. To get information on the program in general straight
from the source, please visit the Small Business Administration’s
Office of Technology at www.sba.gov/sbir/indexsbir-sttr.html.
Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small
Business
Invertix is a small, service disabled veteran-owned business (SDVOB).
On December 16, 2003, the Veterans Benefits Act of 2003 (VBA)
was passed by Congress. Section 308 of the Act (Public Law 108-183),
established a procurement program for SDVOB concerns. This procurement
program provides that Federal contracting officers may restrict
competition to SDVOSBs and award a sole source or set-aside contracts.
This set-aside program, as further emphasized in Executive Order
13360, is designed to serve the veteran entrepreneurial community
by formulating, executing and promoting policies and programs
that provide assistance to veterans seeking to start and develop
small businesses. This strategic asset is enables the company
to obtain sole-source contracts with individual contract ceilings
not to exceed $3M per contract. There is no limit to the number
of contracts the company can perform in support of any one customer
or over the course of the fiscal year. This also affords Invertix
the opportunity to compete as a prime on competitive SDVOB set-aside
procurements as well as assist large business prime contractors
with fulfilling SDVOB subcontracting requirements.
Invertix was formed in 1999 and only recently
did the company obtain SDVOB status. We experienced success long
before this recent change learning how to successfully perform
as a small business on prime contracts and as a subcontractor.
However, now that this asset is in place we hope to exercise it
to more rapidly address our customer’s needs and provide
the ability to reach Invertix and our partners in a cost effective
manner. By eliminating the need for competitive source selection,
we are able to begin meeting needs in a matter of days vice months
(the duration of a typical FAR Part 15 evaluated procurement).
We are well versed in the program’s requirements and offer
this flexibility to our partners.
Please contact Craig Parisot, Invertix’s
Chief Operating Officer, if you are interested in exploring SDVOB
opportunities. To view Frequently Asked Questions, a copy of E.O.
13360, and other helpful information provided by the Small Business
Administration, please visit www.sba.gov/vets.
